you’re young until you’re not, you love until you don’t

you try until you can’t, you laugh until you cry,

you cry until you laugh…and everyone must breath until their dying breathe…

you are my sweetest down fall <3

Spring is coming?

So i woke up at about 945am (about an hour and half later than I wanted to), ate breakfast, changed, went to pay the water bill, took the vaporetto to the library, and now I’m here, trying hard to concentrate, BUT HOW ON EARTH am I suppose to concentrate with the relaxing sound of rain slamming down on the library roof. The library is pretty quiet for once, and it’s quite chilly out. I’ve been doing great with studying AND my diet (which GRANTED I only started this week, but usually by the third day, I surrender) and apparently, I will be hosting the son of the friend of my Italian professor from Atlanta. Don’t get me wrong, I love hosting…this city is amazing, I’m just pretty darn happy that he’s only here for a day, because studying has definitely been moved to my top priority, but this will definitely be a good way to take a break from reading Human Resource Management. Sorry about the run on sentences and horrible writing structure, I’m a soon to be economist, not a journalist :)

here’s to reading, ya’ll

A presto,

Cristina

day n night

i think of you…what the hell am i gonna do when I leave this amazing place? i dislike not hearing your voice for so long.

ok i’m being a little ridiculous, but i can’t wait to see you again :)

<3 11 giorni

SO many things,

There are so many things going on in my life right now!! It’s amazing how much time flies by. I have been in Venice since September…already 6 months, and I feel like I just got here last week! I don’t know how I’m going to deal with leaving this beautiful and magical place. It’s been so good to me. I have met wonderful and new people. My best friend here, she’s and amazing cute little anthropological bundle of joy. Her name is Ivey aka Hedera, aka Ivey Metal. My new roomate is pretty awesome, too. Well she’s not THAT new, but she got here about a month after Marcela left me to my lonesome. Pretty good replacement though, can’t complain ;) . It’s chilly and rainy out, which totally makes me wish I was also on an island like Erasmo is currently in Havana, Cuba….seriously, USA, it’s 2011, take off the embargo already. I have my parent’s mother-island, Dominican Republic, which is pretty gorgeous, and I mean, come on, the Caribbean is beautiful any way. But I guess since it’s basically ILLEGAL for me to go to Cuba, I have it on my list of destinations. I mean why not? I love black beans and white rice :)  Any who, he’ll be back in a couple weeks…can’t wait :)

In the mean  time, I have to study for a cruddy exam on friday, Human Resource Management. I dislike exams in general, but life is just one big test any way right?

I wish it was warm n sunny out, or at least not rainy. I wouldn’t mind wearing a dress n sandals right now…When that spring season comes jumpin’ in I will be soo happy.

GROWING MY HAIR OUT

So, most of you know that my hair is that special, crazy, dominican, curly hair. Well, for the past..idk, 9 years years of my life, I’ve been relaxing it, putting chemicals in it to make it more “manageable,” when all I think I’ve been doing to it is damaging it. Well, I finally decided to go ahead and grow my natural curls out, and let me tell you, this is not a simple process. It’s quite annoying actually, especially because the last time i got a relaxer, it was that Japanese keratin relaxer, and so the only hair that’s curly are my roots, everything else is like…straight. ugh..we’ll see.

DIETARY SUPPLEMENT

I have a goal, and it is to be 125lbs by the end of April. I am starting tomorrow…I am so serious this time.

Chicken is in the oven, I am planning my next academic year, and the textbook awaits me to turn it’s pages! later, loves!

A dopo,

Tina

Let’s Talk About Edumacation..

I don’t understand why the first funds to be cut is always from education and programs related to education. Do we forget that as we get higher into jobs and political office that EDUCATION is one of the most important foundations to SUCCESS? I mean, Mr. DEAL, what IS your deal with fundings and education? I mean, if you want dumb hicks in your state, go ahead and take HOPE away, I just HOPE that you realize that you will be making it a lot more difficult for people to get a higher education after college. HOPE has allowed soo many students to continue their education. We as potential leaders, doctors, teachers, etc, are the future and if we don’t have the materials we need now, who’s going to lead the country in our generation? The rich kids that are able to get their parents to pay for private universities? I know it’s possible to get other scholarships and loans and what have you, but HOPE is such an incredible state scholarship program that has given all of us young and hopeful students the power to want to do great and better in school. But all this aside, why can’t we in Capitol Hill see that education is the last thing that needs to be touched. LEAVE EDUCATION FUNDING ALONE, and if you are gonna touch it, PUT MORE MONEY TOWARDS IT.

and that is my daily rant about important things in our lives.

Tina.

Aftermath,

well, today is a gorgeous day in Venice, I couldn’t imagine another place to be. :)

Although I have tons of reading to get to for my upcoming exam on the 18th of this month, I have decided to take a study break today and take in the beauty that is Venice. I like doing that every now and then. It helps me realize that this is real life right now, and that I need to take in EVERY moment :)

I’ll post pictures up later ;)

USA lost many lives on 9-11-01 and now Japan has lost more lives on 3-10-11. add the 2 dates together and you get 12-21-12.

I thought the earthquake happened on the 11th of March?

who ever came to that conclusion was dumb…because it totallllly happend on march 11th. it might’ve been 10th in the US but that doesnt count because it happened in JAPAN where it was the 11th..close coincidence i guess. XD

The deal,

Today, I woke up at about 9am and continued to lay in my bed, because I knew that once I would put my feet on the ground and on that floor i have to do a lot of studying…

So fine, I’ll surrender, but only because I wanted to eat oatmeal and needed to shower. So now that I am finished, I’ll go ahead and get ready to go to the library and spend my day forever reading a boring book :) yaaaaay

hope your day is more exciting than mine!

Will you marry me, continued

I will now reflect on this that just happened last night.

So this event that sort of randomly took place on a random street in Venice between Cafè Noir and Tonolo (a bar and a bakery), was a completely unexpected thing to happen so close to drunken people Carnival. What’s even greater is that it seemed to me, (and many others), that the girl was as well shocked with what was happening for either:

  1. She was drunk
  2. Marriage was not in her vocabulary

Now, it could be possible that it was a combination of both, or maybe just the first, but by all means, could the guy just not WAIT to maybe ask in the beautiful and empty Piazza San Marco at 12am?! I guess its cute and “casual” to propose on a random back street in front of a bar and a group dressed like pirates drunkenly yelling “SI SI SI!”

Now, I always wanted to witness a proposal right in front of me, and well I did. It was still so adorable. A guy putting himself in one of the most vulnerable positions he could ever be in, (on his knees). She, who we still think might’ve said yes due to pressure, said yes in all joy…to spend the rest of her life with this one person? Now, we all know that “forever” now a days could maybe just mean a decade, but I wonder if she realized at that drunken ‘yes’, she just sealed a deal to start planning and marry the guy who she believes is the love of her life. It’s really something, you know? To witness love.

But what kills me to analyze what I just witnessed last night is the fact that we all wonder if we just saw the start of a successful love that will go on “til death do they part” or if the sobered up version of this “in-love” girl remembers that the diamond on her finger is an engagement ring, and not a toy from Carnevale. Who knows.

Now I’m not being critical because I believe marriage is a death sentence and blah blah, in fact, I’m a believer in matrimony and its true meaning because my parents, for example, have been married and together since March 1970. It is just about every girls dream to walk down that aisle with that pretty white dress and all eyes on her. Although she knows that the only eyes that she’ll be paying attention to, is that of the man she will spend her days with. ooo love, how fruity and gushy you are.

any way, the end.
